About JP

I write British cosy mysteries with a generous helping of humour and a dash of Devon charm.

Armed with my degree in English Literature and a lifetime spent devouring mystery novels (starting from the moment I could hold a book without dropping it), I love the classic whodunnits and, like everyone, thought I could contribute to the genre. Growing up in a sleepy Devon village has given me an appreciation* for village life, the moors, cream teas, fantastic accents, tiny pubs with ‘character’, and the sort of small communities where everyone knows your business… which, as you know, makes for the perfect setting when someone turns up –gasp– dead.

When I’m not plotting elaborate murders, I’m thinking about them. At work, I’m surrounded by the mundane and pointless bureaucracy that comes with a corporate 9-5, and a good bit of murder helps me stay sane until the end of the day.

Deadly Nightshade is my debut novel, though I promise you dear reader, that the characters have been living in my head and causing mischief for far longer than is probably healthy.
